Kick canker sores to the curb

Updated: Dec 19, 2022

Canker sores got you down? Here's your handy guide to getting your mouth back in tip-top shape:

  1. Hydrogen peroxide: the antiseptic cure-all. This doesn't taste great, but it's a lot less abrasive than alcohol-based mouthwashes. Swish about a tablespoon around your mouth for 30 seconds, then spit into the sink.

  2. Anbesol or Orajel: to numb and heal. This acts like a liquid bandage and provides a thin barrier to prevent further irritation. Although both products come with an applicator tip, it is more sanitary to apply the gel on a Q-Tip, then apply to affected area.

  3. Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste: to prevent future sores. My dentist told me that some toothpastes contain an ingredient that has been linked to canker sores. I used to have canker sores constantly, but since switching to Sensodyne, I haven't had one in years. Praise be.

So there you have it! Ms. Rosinbum's quick guide to heal mouth sores and get back to playing without pain. Because, in the words of Sarah Hetrick, tone doesn't maintain itself :D
